Acts 1:3 Suffering and the Kingdom

Acts 1:3 (NLT)   After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
During the forty days after his suffering Jesus appeared to the apostles. Jesus death and the events immediately before are summerised by a single word: suffering. Suffering was to be a common experience in the early church, something doctor Luke the author of Acts would see face to face. The gospel accounts speak of what Jesus suffered by describing the events. They do not try to imagine what Jesus felt. We must not forgot the suffering of our rescuer or the reason for it. Jesus spoke to the disciples after the resurrection about the Kingdom of God. Jesus was concerned that God’s reign and kingship would be recognised and experienced throughout the world. Jesus knew that would mean suffering for his disciples and Jesus had given them an example to follow and inspire them.
Father may we not hold back in following you whatever that means.
