Acts 1:8 Our Witness lacks Power, Why?

Acts 1:7-8 (NLT)  He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The disciples were narrow minded and off track as normal. They were thinking about a national and political solution to Roman colonisation of Israel but God had much broader plans. Jesus had said that all nations must be evangelised before the end would come and he tells them to wait for the power of the Holy Spirit to enable effective witness. We are all witnesses but the problem is some of our behaviour and words put people off and we are often lacking the Holy Spirit’s sensitivity, wisdom and power. The right action or word at the right time can be tremendously life changing and dynamic. Dramatic healings, miracles even a word of knowledge are rare in the UK today, is this due to a lack of faith, a failure to wait on God or caused by compromise and disobedience? Unbelievers surround us and desperately need to recognise Jesus, will we help them by God’s Spirit?
Help us Lord to believe in you and grow in faith that we might see you powerfully at work bringing people to yourself.
