Acts 2:39-41 Urging the lost in the Power of the Spirit

Acts 2:39-41 (NLT) This promise is to you, and to your children, and even to the Gentiles—all who have been called by the Lord our God.” Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”
Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.
Though the word Gentiles isn’t in the Greek the translators have interpreted those who are far off as meaning Gentiles which seems fair. Peter talking to a crowd of Jews and converts to Judaism is proclaiming a universal Gospel. He preaches for a long time –not out of habit, not because he is full of himself but because the Holy Spirit is powerfully present anointing his words and many come to faith. Is our generation any less crooked than the one Peter addressed? We may need to urge people to escape the cultural, social, personal and demonic strongholds that so easily prevent them from responding to God. We can do this confident that God’s rescuing power, far greater than any other power in the universe, is available to us today.
Father, may we walk closely with you today dependant on your Spirit in all we do.
