Lk 12:35-9 Are we Dressed for Service with Lamps Burning?

Luke 12:35-39 (NLT)   Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning,  as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks.  The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat!  He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, he will reward the servants who are ready.
Are we ready, doing what the Master has commanded? Are we busy with His priorities or are we wasting our time. We have been given responsibilities to share the message and live the message about Jesus. We have been commanded to watch over our fellow servants, in other words to do everything in our power to help them do a good job for the master. We will be richly rewarded; we have been humbly served by our master and will continue to be but we must also humbly serve, holding on to ‘our’ jobs and duties lightly. We are not worthy to even clean toilets for Jesus but we are asked to do even menial jobs with a thankful and willing attitude.
Father, forgive our pride and our ungratefulness, forgive us for wasting time and energy on stuff which isn’t yours to do.
