Lk 12:29-34 Our Needs or God's Concerns?

Luke 12:29-34  (NLT) “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.  These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.  Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
Do we have money worries? Many would suggest it is reasonable to be concerned for our basic needs but the danger is that our personal needs whatever they are dominate our thoughts and behaviour. The real difference between believers and unbelievers should be our major concerns. God’s reign, His kingdom is irrelevant to unbelievers but it should be our passionate concern. Visiting a church recently which 15 years ago had around 80 in the congregation, lively worship and a great feel is now struggling to get double figures on Sunday in a town desperate for new life in Jesus. Should we not be concerned for communities that have little hope of hearing and experiencing the Good News through a vibrant community of believers? The life of Jesus can easily be sucked out of us through worry and concern over our own needs rather than God’s.
Father help us get our hearts right and really be less selfish and more Christ centred.
