Gen 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your
father’s household to the land I will show you.”
After a
catalogue of widespread sin throughout the known world described from Genesis
chapter 3-11, the Lord speaks. Abraham is asked to leave relatives he has
no doubt spent his whole life with. No one leaves their people and country to live
elsewhere without strong motives. It is difficult to move house within the same
neighbourhood but to leave the security of what you know to go somewhere you
have little or no idea about is a big ask. God does big asks of us but he also
does big blessings. The cost of obedience sometimes comes before we receive a
blessing, are we willing to pay the price in faith? Making tough choices of
obedience repeatedly is exercising our spiritual muscles and will bring us new
strength.
Father
help us to be obedient today.
