Matt 10:1 Authority to Heal & Cast out Evil Spirits

Matthew10:1 Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness.

Jesus claimed total authority over everything (Matt 28:19) and assured His disciples that they too had authority to heal and drive out evil spirits. If we are his disciples and have counted the cost to follow Him then we too have such authority. We may not often come across the clear and obvious presence of an evil spirit but the ability and right to use God's power means we need never fear evil. Our Lord and master the one who protects us is more powerful than any evil, indeed we need never fear another human or anything else for the same reason. There is no kind of illness, mental or physical or emotional that God cannot heal. Immediate and instant healing is not always God's will but we can be certain God can and does heal miraculously in answer to our prayers. What a tragedy it would be if we failed to pray for healing when God was ready to do a miracle!
