then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the
Kingdom of Heaven is near”. (NLT)
There is nothing like radical life change to make a
real impact in the world. A change of thinking followed by a heartfelt apology followed
by a change of behaviour this is what the world is crying out for. Genuine lasting
change, new positive habits in place of destructive ones, it is these things
that people notice and can’t ignore. They may fundamentally disagree with our
beliefs but few can remain untouched if we consistently live out the fruit of
repentance. God calls us to live with soft hearts, sensitive to God ready to
turn away from anything offensive to Him. The lack of genuine individual and
corporate repentance is what holds back so many churches in the Western world.
We are bound to hurt people and offend God at times, we mess things up
constantly but are we willing to make things right?
Forgive me Lord
for my hard heartedness, my stubborn refusal to do your will, soften my heart
Lord so I might be all that you want me to be.
