1 Peter 1: 18 Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ's sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb.(MSG)
Jesus death on our behalf is not only means by which we enter into relationship with God but also the means by which we continue to live close to Him. The importance of the cross cannot be overstated. We share communion with fellow believers in order to seriously reflect, gratefully thank and indeed celebrate what God has freely done for us. How can we live a life which is both seriously reflective, thankful and celebratory? The first sentence above gives one possible answer, let us live with a deep consciousness of God. How can we communicate and pass on the need to live in the light of the cross to those we are discipling?
